JPL VISION (our vision expresses what we aspire to be known for and embodies our purpose)

Expand the frontiers of space to enrich knowledge and benefit humanity

JPL MISSION STATEMENT (our mission is what we do to achieve our vision)

Conduct challenging robotic space missions for NASA

    • Explore our solar system
    • Expand our knowledge of the universe
    • Further our understanding of Earth from the perspective of space
    • Pave the way for human exploration
    • Apply our special capabilities to technical and scientific problems of national significance

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), an operating division of the California Institute of Technology, is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) lead center for the robotic exploration of the solar system. JPL also conducts a variety of research and development work for other federal agencies. Through these efforts, the Laboratory creates a wealth of technology and expertise in key fields -- from space science and instruments, through telecommunications and spacecraft component design and systems integration, to automation, microdevices, electronics, and software.

JPL's Commercial Technology organization maintains a Technology Transfer home page at http://techtransfer.jpl.nasa.gov which allows users to view (and request additional information on) thousands of technologies which were developed at JPL (or under contract to JPL). Information is also available on how various organizations can work with JPL on projects or problems.
