Yeghig L. Keshishian, District Representative & Grant Coordinator for Honorable Ed
Royce, United States Representative of the 40th District of California. Since his election to
Congress in 1992, Royce has earned a reputation for his tough, no-nonsense approach to
governing. Previously Chairman, he is now Ranking Member on the Terrorism,
Nonproliferation and Trade Subcommittee and has worked to provide meaningful tax relief
for hard working Americans, fought for protecting our homeland, and supported education
for all students.
Chris Palmer, Deputy District Director for The Honorable John Campbell,
United States Representative of the 48th District of California, “Congressman John
Campbell is widely acknowledged as one of the leading fiscal conservative voices for lower
taxes, lower spending, and more freedom. He serves on the House Financial Services
Committee and the House Budget Committee.”


UPDATE SPACE INNOVATIONS FROM JET PROPULSION LABORTORY
Lt. General Eugene “Gene” Tattini, is Deputy Director of the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, (JPL). Prior to JPL, General Tattini was Commander, Space and Missile
Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, and was responsible for managing research,
development, and acquisition of space launch, command and control, and satellite systems.
During General Tattini’s five years at JPL, the laboratory has landed two Mars rovers,
placed Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter into orbit, put Cassini into orbit around Saturn,
landed Huygens on Saturn's moon Titan, hit a comet and returned samples from another
comet, studied the Universe in infrared and ultraviolet, and launched several instruments to
monitor the environment of our own planet.

SPECIAL VISIONARY SPEAKER
Perspectives from the Director of The Office of Homeland Security for California
Matthew R. Bettenhausen was appointed in March 2005 to serve as Homeland Security
Advisor to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Director of the California Office of
Homeland Security. As Director of the California Office of Homeland Security, Mr.
Bettenhausen serves on Governor Schwarzenegger’s Cabinet and is responsible for
implementation of the State's strategy to prevent terrorism and investment of federal and
state homeland security funds to protect against, and prepare for catastrophic emergencies.
Director Bettenhausen also serves as the elected Chairman of the National Governors
Association’s Homeland Security Advisors Council and is a board member of the Western
Institute for Food Safety and Security. He currently is a member of the George
Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute’s Task Force.


MODERATOR OF ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION:
Ssusan Forte O’Neill is Founder and President of Forte Designs, a business development
and public affairs firm creating practical business and strategic leadership solutions for the
21st Century. Sought out by the media, she is frequently quoted and is a published author.
With Ms. Forte O’Neill’s involvement in presidential and congressional political campaigns,
her appointment as a Surrogate to Governor Schwarzenegger’s campaign and involvement
on several nonprofit boards, she brings unique perspective on leadership in our community
and across the nation.


MEET THE VISIONARY SPEAKERS
Timothy (Tim)!J.!Vinopal Chief Engineer Environmental, Health and Safety Support
Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS), serves on the IDS Engineering Leadership Team
as well as the Enterprise EHS team. Mr. Vinopal provides the focus for developing and
ensuring the IDS environmental strategy is implemented across our diverse programs &
services and is linked with our suppliers and customers. Most recently, Mr. Vinopal was
Chief Engineer and Director, SEIT for the Airborne Early Warning and Control
(AEW&C) system. He led overall technical integration of the multi-billion dollar 737
surveillance, communications and battle management system – across concurrent
development and production for several foreign customers.


INSIGHTS ON GLOBAL CHANGE AND ENERGY:
Dr. Paul Dimotakis, Chief Technologist of Jet Propulsion Laboratory is the John K.
Northrop Professor of Aeronautics and Professor of Applied Physics at Caltech. His
research has focused on superfluidity, turbulent flow phenomena, combustion, hypersonic
flow and propulsion, laser diagnostics, high-speed image data acquisition, and
computational adaptive optics. Dr. Dimotakis has consulted for aerospace companies,
Disney, DOE's Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, and assisted in sail design for the
successful America3 defense of the 1992 Americas Cup. He has also worked on the Space
Shuttle, the Mars Pathfinder, the Spitzer Space Telescope, and the analysis of the Shuttle
Columbia failure. Dr. Dimotakis has served on National Academy of Science study panels,
panels for the Department of Energy, and has participated in and led several studies for the
Department of Defense.
