Changes
in International Standardization Practices May Have an
Effect on the Intellectual Property Assets of Your Company.
Terri Sale, Intellectual Property Attorney, Fulbright &
Jaworki L.L.P. recently shared some thoughts on new
standardized trends in Intellectual Property law. "There
is a trend towards standardization of intellectual property
laws as a result of
globalization and technology advances. The standardization
of laws has brought continuous changes to domestic intellectual
property rights. Another trend is the integration and expansion
of intellectual property rights, such as a centralized route
to obtaining trademark and patent protection in European
Union countries. Businesses need to understand the changes
to domestic law and the ramifications of obtaining intellectual
property protection through a centralized patent/trademark
office to insure protection of their intellectual property
assets."
